Glass Ball Manufacturer Introduces The Classification Of Wear-resistant Balls

Update:29 Jul 2021

Chromium alloy is the main component of wear-resistant steel balls. It has high oxidation resistance and high sulfur resistance, diesel fuel, seawater corrosion resistance, and its strength density is much higher than that of ordinary metals. According to the level of chromium content, Glass Ball Manufacturer introduced wear-resistant balls can be divided into the following types:

1. Chromium content 1%-3%, hardness HRC≥45. This standard wear-resistant steel ball is called a low-chromium alloy cast ball. The low-chromium ball is produced by means of intermediate frequency electric furnace smelting, metal mold, or sand casting. Its performance is suitable for some metallurgical mines, slag, and other industries with low grinding accuracy requirements and low wear consumption.

2. Chromium content is 4%-6%, hardness HRC≥47. This standard is called a multi-element alloy ball, which has slightly higher strength and wears resistance than low-chromium steel balls.

3. Medium-chromium alloy cast balls with a chromium content of 7%-10% and hardness HRC≥48 are higher than multi-element alloy steel balls in terms of performance.

4. Chromium content ≥10%-14%, hardness HRC≥58. It is a kind of wear-resistant ball with a high market utilization rate and good cost performance. It has a wide range of applications and is used in metallurgical mines, cement building materials, thermal power generation, Ball mill for flue gas desulfurization, magnetic materials, chemical industry, coal water slurry, pellets, slag, ultrafine powder, flies ash, calcium carbonate, quartz sand, and other industries. Its function is especially prominent in the cement industry, increasing production and reducing consumption.

5. The chromium content exceeds 14%, and the hardness HRC≥58. This kind of special high chromium steel ball is suitable for industries where the grinding is more detailed and the consumption is large. Of course, the price is quite high.
